Donald J. Renyer, Sr., 83, of Henryville, IN, crossed to the other side at 10:51 AM on Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home.
   Born June 3, 1934 in Oxford, OH, he was the son of Peter Anthony and Emma (McGaffeney) Renyer.
   Don was known to many as “Red” or “Reindeer”. He was a 1952 McGuffey High School graduate in Oxford, OH.  He was a United States Army Veteran where he served 1 year 11 months and 29 days.  
   On September 9, 1953, he married B. Joan Renyer who passed away on October 22, 2012.  Don was also married to Bea (Moore) Schneider, who he shared 20 years with before she preceded him in death.
   Don retired from Champion Paper Mill in Hamilton, OH, as a machine operator. He traveled as a master electrician all over the United States and was a member of IBEW Local 855. He also found time to farm grain, cattle, and hogs for over 40 years.
   Don was of the Catholic faith, a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Richmond, IN, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #167 in Richmond, IN, and the American Legion Post #204 in Sellersburg, IN.  He was quite the character, never met a stranger, loved to tell stories, was a great dancer, an exceptional athlete, and enjoyed playing basketball up into in his early 50’s. He loved to gamble and was known as “Mr. Lucky” when he played cards, pull tabs, and bingo. In later years, after he retired from farming, he enjoyed mowing his grass with his new riding lawn mower.
   Survivors include his 2 sons, Donald “Butch” (Betsy) Renyer, Jr.; and Dave “Shorty” (Kim) Renyer; 5 grandchildren, Donald Chester (Vanessa) Renyer, Amanda Goble (Daniel) Seal; Mindy Renyer, Sara Renyer, and Kathryn (Sam) Renyer; 7 great grandchildren, 3 step-sons, Eddie Schneider, Matt (Karen) Schneider, and Mark Schneider, and numerous nieces & nephews.
   He was also preceded in death by 4 siblings, Alice Benge, Mary Renyer, Peter Renyer, and infant Keith Renyer, and 1 step son, Chris Schneider.
   Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet/St. Mary’s Cemetery in Oxford, Ohio.
   Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, at the funeral home.

Don Renyer, My friend you will be truly missed.I will miss our morning time sitting on your front pouch as you told your stories from back in the day. What joy I could see on your face from your loving memories. I could sit and lesson all day. I would like to express my sympathy to the Renyer family with heart felt condolences. R.I.P. Don! Give Jesus a big hug from all of us down here.

Don was not only our brother-in-law but a best friend that we loved. We had some great times together and will miss him very much!
