Lauren David “Larry” Girdwood, 64, of Richmond, went home to join his Savior in the early hours of Thursday, September 26, 2013.
   Larry was born on December 6, 1948 in Owosso, Michigan, to Laurence Joseph and Marguerite Ann Dean Girdwood.
   Larry was a servant of the Lord and a champion of God’s word who made it his life’s work winning souls, building churches and developing leaders. He received his Bachelor of Sacred Literature degree from Great Lakes Christian College in 1971, his Master of Arts in Practical Ministry from Cincinnati Christian University in 1999 and also attended the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and Wheaton College. Larry’s lifelong ministry called him to serve Christian churches in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana. He was a minister of the Whitewater Christian Church at the time of his going home.
   Larry will be missed by his wife of 40 years, Phyllis Ashcraft Girdwood; two sons & daughters-in-law, David & Julie Girdwood of Plainfield, IL, and Michael & Sonya Girdwood, of Fort Thomas, KY; three grandchildren, Andrew, Alexa and Gabriel Girdwood; one sister & brother-in-law, Doris & Kenneth Richards of Jackson, MI; four brothers & sisters-in-law, Robert & Janet Girdwood of Berkley, MI; James & Laurel Girdwood of Grayson, KY; Wilfred & Marilynn Girdwood of Greenfield, IN; and Daniel & Jan Girdwood of Grand Rapids, MI; and several nieces & nephews.
   Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Girdwood.
   Troy Beckner, associate minister of Whitewater Christian Church, C. Gene McElroy and Randy Brady will unite to conduct a life celebration at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, at the Whitewater Christian Church, 7918 North State Road 227, Richmond, IN 47374.
   Family & friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, and 10-11 a.m. on Monday, September 30, at the church.

I would just like to say that Iam sorry for your lost . I can imagine how much you all will miss Mr Girdwood. Knowing how much he loved and served the Lord brings peace knowing he is now in better place where one day we all will be . I will pray that each day become easier with your lost and the memories remain strong and live on in each and every one of you .God Bless

Phyllis, may God answer all your prayers in this time of need. Our prayers are with you, your family and your church. Larry's book will always be his legacy. God answered his prayers before and during his time of need. God bless you and your family.

I was so saddened by the news of Larry's passing. My sympathy goes to you and your sons and extended family, as well as Larry's brothers and sister. I have many fond memories of our college days. I thank Les Wright for letting me know the sad news. You and your family are in my prayers.

Phyllis - We are so sorry for your loss and send our sincere sympathy. We attended Whitewater Christian Church and I am a member and we are friends of Larry and Dottie Moore and Carl and Yvonne Harris as well as others. We have been in Madison, IN since 2007. Sincerely, Sally and Gordon Ricketts

I was so saddened by the news of Larry's passing. My sympathy goes to you and your children. I remember Larry when i minister in Alburnett, Ia. He is a champion for the Lord that is for sure and was a great friend. We spend some time together. God Bless you and the family.
