Bailey Elisabeth Smith, 12, was released to the care of angels from her Mother's arms on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in her room at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Bailey was born September 26, 1997 in Richmond to Jennifer Bailey. She faced countless challenges throughout her life, living far beyond any medical expectation to become an inspiration to anyone fortunate enough to have her life touch theirs.
Bailey will be missed by her mom, Jennifer Bailey (Tony); big brother, Alex Smith; big sisters, Delanie Russell and Kallie Mae Russell; maternal grandparents, Bill and Debbie Bailey; maternal great-grandmother, Bertha Blankenship; maternal great-grandfather, Clarence Bailey; aunts, Amy Quante (Trevor) and Erin Bailey (Alan); paternal grandparents, Mike and Carol Smith; several other aunts, uncles, cousins, many loving caregivers and friends and her father, Steve Smith.
Bailey was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather, Ralph Blankenship; maternal great-grandmother, Frances Bailey; paternal great-grandparents, Gay and Harold Smith and her great-uncle, Ross Blankenship.
Bailey will be lifted up in a ceremony conducted by Pastor Martin Holman at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 24, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
Family and friends may gather Sunday, May 23, from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Bailey Smith Memorial Ride, c/o Whitewater Valley Motorcycle Club, P.O. Box 2582, Richmond, IN 47375. This ride, which began as a benefit ride for Bailey, was previously scheduled for July 11 and will continue on that date as planned.
