Barbara Mae Abbott, a.k.a Mimi, entered eternal life on May 8, 2017. Everyone who met Mimi loved her. She always had a kind word for everyone!
She was born on October 13, 1930 to the late George and Jennie Retz. She married her childhood sweetheart, Norman “Bud†Abbott, on February 23, 1948. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Lynn, Indiana.
In addition to spending time with her daughters and grandkids, she worked at Belden at which she retired from. After retirement, she spent several years working at Birthday Chocolates.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandy Jenkins (Steven), 2 granddaughters, Amber Davis (Tyrone) and Heather Welker (Joey), 8 great grandchildren, Jacob Rogers, Zachary Rogers, Elias Davis, Chanel Davis, Kwandell Lundy-Davis, Tyron Davis, Devin Welker, and Jaustin Welker, 3 great-great grandchildren, KJ Lundy, Bensen CharLee, and Tanner Nash and one brother, Gerald Retz (Becky).
She was preceded in death by her husband Bud, her loving daughter Vicki Lyn Keister, her parents, and her sister Mary Beth Ward Owens.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27, Fountain City, with services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at New Liberty Cemetery.
