Mrs. R. Bernetta Jeffries, 98, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 28.
She was born Ruth Bernetta Anderson in Richmond, Indiana on August 31, 1927, to Fred A. and Aletha Ruth Bryan Anderson. She was a graduate of Williamsburg High School and was united in marriage to David D. “Jeff” Jeffries on February 11, 1948. They were blessed with five children and 59 years of marriage before his death on July 10, 2007.
Bernetta maintained a loving home for her family. She was crafty, creative and enjoyed decorating cakes for special family events over the years. She formerly worked part-time at Warm Glow Candle and was a member of Living Faith Church of God.
Bernetta will be missed by her children, Vickie Sue Robinson, Chris Jeffries & wife, Connie; Jon Jeffries & wife, June; grandchildren, Aaron (Susan) Caudle, Darren Caudle, Matthew Robinson, Jacob Jeffries, Todd Jeffries, April (Jeremy) Handley, Joe (Patty) Jeffries, Josh Cook, Azure Jeffries and Wade Jeffries; 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Yvonne Lanter; brother, Bill Anderson & wife, Anna Mae; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bernetta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Gary Jeffries and Hal Jeffries; granddaughter, Aletha Cook; son-in-law, John Robinson; brothers, Terrence Anderson, Jack Anderson, Junior Anderson and Roger Anderson.
Bernetta’s life will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US Highway 27, Fountain City, with Pastor Doug Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, at the funeral home.
