Betty Mayberry, 75, of New Paris, OH, formerly of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, at Golden Living Golden Rule.
She was born on April 17, 1940 in Lexington, Kentucky to Roger Stevens and Nancy Cummins Mackey. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and was a retired telephone operator from GTE.
Mrs. Mayberry will be missed by her husband of 55 years, Jay Mayberry, whom she married on February 26, 1960; daughter & son-in-law, Linda & John Martin; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Johnson and Joann Mayberry; and one brother, Gene Beckley.
Mrs. Mayberry was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Jean Zurcher, in 2002; her parents, and brother, Michael Beckley, in 2011.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, at the funeral home.
