C. Dennis "Denny" Jones

   Charles Dennis “Denny” Jones, 84, of Centerville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, February 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

   He was born in Centerville, Indiana, on March 26, 1939, the son of Charles Demming & Martha Elizabeth Trouse Jones. He married the former Karen Louise Dunlap on June 13, 1958. They were blessed with 5 children and 62 years together before her death on December 15, 2020.

   Denny was a proud 1957 graduate of Centerville High School, where he excelled as a 3-sport athlete. He briefly lived in the Franklin/Edinburgh area when he worked for Cummins. He took a pay cut for the opportunity to return to Centerville, where he remained a Bulldog for the rest of his life. He enjoyed a passion for basketball his entire life and took up tennis in his 40’s as his second lifetime sport. 

   Denny briefly worked for Avco and Walled Lake Door Co. in Richmond. In the early 70’s, he studied computer science before launching Jones Computer Service. Among his many clients was J.M. Hutton & Co., which he continued to serve until the last few days of his life. 

   Faith and Family were two of the pillars of Denny’s life. He was always involved in his church and ready to serve wherever he was needed. He was a long-time member of Gateway Church. He loved singing during worship, even though his joyful noise might not have been pitch perfect.

   Denny enjoyed gardening and working on his mini-farm. He was a devoted husband who never tired of taking care of Karen’s every need. He always enjoyed watching any of his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s athletic and school activities. 

   Denny will be missed by his children, C. Douglas Jones & wife, Tammy; Christopher D. Jones & wife, Mary; Craig D. Jones & wife, Nan; Carla Bowen & husband, Tim; and Danni Jones; 18 grandchildren, Ryan Bowen (Rachel), Ginese Jones Wilmot (Bobby), Jessica Robertson Maule (Chris), Lyndsey Jones Mimnagh (Matt), Tyler Jones (Nicole), Christine Bowen Hunter (Andrew), Brandon Jones (Annie), Dayne Jones (Gabrielle), Jordan Jones (Chrissy), Courtney Bowen Mathews (Branden), Daniel Jones (Asheton), Jonny Jones (Jessica), Brittany Jones Johnson (John), Emily Jones Sheffield (Alan), Dakota List, Maria Jones, Roman List and Ethan Jones; 38 great-grandchildren as well as three more on the way; sisters, Reba Lake (Walter) and Sheila Jones; sister-in-law, Katherine Sue Dunlap Marlow and several nieces & nephews.

   Denny was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, step-mother, Hazel Powell Hurley Jones; brothers, Edwin Jones and Tarry Jones.

   Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13 at Gateway Church, 3361 N St. Rd. 227, Richmond. 

   Services for Denny will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14 at the church. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville.
