Charles Thomas Arnett, age 88, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on November 25, after a long illness at The Brethren Retirement Community.
Born January 12, 1919, in Richmond, Indiana to Burley H. and Alice Pegg Arnett, he was a lifelong resident of Fountain City, Indiana.
Tom was a graduate of the Hollansburg Rural High School in 1938. He worked at the Wayne Works, Richmond, and retired from the Union City Body Company while operating the Arnett Body Shop. He was an honored veteran of World War II. Tom dedicated his leisure time to restoring antique automobiles and was well known as a skilled body painter. He was an active member of the Model A Club and the Christian Motorcycle Club. He was a member of the Fountain City Friends Meeting and the Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren.
Above all, though, he was a generous, kind, hardworking person.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Pauline Bowman Arnett, whom he married in 1981; daughter Jacquelyn and her husband Brooke Applebee of Venice, Florida; daughter in-law, Judy Arnett, Trinity, Florida; grandchildren, Shaun Dingwerth, Richmond, and Todd Dingwerth, Tampa, Florida and his daughters, Gina Stewart and Alexis Dingwerth, Valrico, Florida. Pauline's daughter Carol Huntington and friend Jack Duke, Greenville, Ohio; Pauline's son, John Bowman and his wife Juanita, Florida; step grandchildren; Donald Gregory Huntington, Kevin Huntington and his wife Tiffany, Julie Huntington, Melissa Wade and her husband Brian, Jennifer Tee and her husband Darin; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Margaret Schneider, South Bend, Ind. and Sarah Clements, Williamsburg, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Martha Moody Arnett and his son, Jan Thomas Arnett; sisters Esther Waters, Josephine Young, Anna bell Vanaman and Mary Jane Mills
Funeral service for Thomas will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, at the funeral home.
