Christal Newton Snowden

Mrs. Christal Newton Snowden, 67, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, January 6, 2008.


She was born August 8, 1940, to Albert B. and Callie Holland Newton in Lee County, Kentucky. She had lived in the Richmond community since 1966 and was a former employee of Hill Floral Products. She enjoyed cake-baking, crocheting, quilting and doing genealogy work. She affirmed her faith in Christ and was baptized on December 12, 2007.


Christal will be missed by her husband, Jimmy Snowden, of Richmond; her daughters, Connie Abrams and her fiance, Mark Smith, and Linda Lahmann and her husband, Alan Jr., all of Richmond; her son, Steve Bowman and his wife, Kathy, of Richmond; a step-daughter, Sharon Webb, of Irvine, Kentucky; step-son, Ricky Lee Snowden, of Clay City, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, a sister, Virginia Horn, of Richmond; 2 brothers, Tildon Newton and Ernest Newton, both of Richmond; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Christal was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Johnathan Alan Lahmann, on Dec. 10, 2007; 7 sisters and 5 brothers.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Heath Rickmond at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, at the funeral home.


Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Johnathan Lahmann Memorial Scholarship, 33 South 7th Street, Richmond, Indiana 47374; or Williamsburg Cemetery.
