David Schneider

David N. Schneider, 71, of Whitewater, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family after a brief illness.

David was born on February 11, 1955, in Richmond, Indiana, to David E. and Jane Burgess Schneider Braund. He graduated from Northeastern High School in 1973 and on March 17, 1974, married the love of his life, Nonalee Barker. Their story began as high school sweethearts in the ninth grade and grew into a beautiful marriage that lasted more than 52 years. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and unwavering love, raising two children and creating a family that became David’s greatest blessing.

To know David was to know a man of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering devotion. He never sought recognition, yet his life spoke volumes through the way he loved, worked, and served those around him. He was a lifelong farmer who believed in honest work and simple living. He proudly drove the same Northeastern Wayne Schools bus route that his father once drove, carrying on a family tradition with pride. He also worked for Fox Contractors, but no matter where life took him, his heart was always on the farm and with his family.

David found joy in fishing, coon hunting, and raising hogs and cattle , but the moments he treasured most were the ones spent with the people he loved. Whether he was coaching softball, helping in the barn, sitting in the stands cheering on his children and grandchildren, or quietly lending a hand without being asked, he was always present. He didn’t need many words to show his love. His actions spoke for him. He was the steady voice of encouragement, the dependable hand to lean on, and the safe place his family could always call home.

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. He took immense pride in each of them, celebrating every accomplishment, offering guidance through every challenge, and making each one feel deeply loved. The lessons he taught—through his work ethic, integrity, kindness, patience, and unconditional love—will continue to shape generations to come.

David leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife of 52 years, Nonalee Schneider; his son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Kim Schneider; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Brandon Neagle; his cherished grandchildren, Katie Schneider-Snell (Sarah) Jade Neagle -Sickels (Cole) Becca Schneider, Jackson Neagle, Zane Schneider, Aubrey Neagle, Hayden Neagle, and Hadley Neagle; his precious great-grandchildren, Trigger Sickels and Ryder Sickels; his brother Mike Schneider his sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ellen and Michael Roll; his youngest brother Steve Schneider and Jenny; his aunt, Audrey Burgess; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends whose lives were better because they knew him.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, David E. and Jane Schneider Braund; his brother, John Mark Schneider; his parents-in-law, Bill and Patsy Barker; and his sister-in-law, Cavela Schneider.

In keeping with David’s wishes, no public services will be held at this time.

The Schneider family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of Reid Health Hospice. Their kindness, gentleness, and exceptional care allowed David to remain where he most wanted to be—at home, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

A Family’s Tribute

There are no words that can truly express what David meant to those who loved him. He was the heart of our family—a devoted husband, an incredible father, a proud Grandpa and Great-Grandpa, and a faithful friend. He taught us that love is found not only in words but in showing up, working hard, keeping your promises, and putting your family first.

Our hearts are broken, but we are forever grateful for every lesson, every laugh, every hug, and every memory. We will miss hearing your voice, seeing your smile, and watching you do the things you loved. We find comfort knowing that your legacy lives on in each of us and that one day we will see you again.

Until then, we will honor you by loving our families the way you loved yours.

You will always be our greatest example, and you will always be deeply loved.
