Mrs. Dora I. Jones, 85, of Lafayette, passed away Saturday, January 14 at St. Elizabeth Hospital East in Lafayette.
She was born February 21, 1926 in Celina, Ohio to Millard and Helen Reier Spicer. She was united in marriage to William Jones on April 13, 1948 and their home was blessed with 2 children.
Mrs. Jones was formerly employed at Staco and was a member of the Arba Friends Church. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of the Arba Ladies Aid.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Karen and Richard Gray, Lafayete; son & daughter-in-law, Doug & Georgie Jones, Arba; grandchildren, Dawn (Mark) Layton, Lafayette; Jason Beaty, Richmond; Melissa Ruble, Fountain City; Jill (Jeff) Masters, Cowan; Katie Gray, Bowling Green, KY; great-grandchildren, Jakob, Kody and Emmy Layton, Dillon Beaty, Alissa Ruble, Alex Gannom, Sara Masters, Shelby and Emma Davis; 2 sisters, Wanda McClain, Fort Recovery, OH and Addie Roberson, West Melbourne, FL and; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, Madonna Spicer and Anna Seacat; 2 brothers, Paul Edward Spicer and Robert Eugene Spicer.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Brooks Martin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12-2 pm on Wednesday, January 18, at the funeral home.
