Dorothy Allen

Dorothy "Miss Dorothy" Allen, age 76, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the home of her son.

She was born November 20, 1930, in College Corner, Ohio, the daughter of Harry and Frances Teetzel Werner. She was a 1948 graduate of Whitewater High School, where she enjoyed attending alumni functions. Mrs. Allen was formerly employed as a seamstress at Nettle Creek Industries and York Casket. She later worked at First Care in Lynn, retiring in 2005.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn. She served many years as president of the Lynn Little League Booster Club and enjoyed taking care of many children over the years. She faithfully attended ball games to watch her children and grandchildren play. She enjoyed league bowling in Winchester and watching Cincinnati Reds baseball. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and playing Scrabble and card games.

Mrs. Allen will be missed by her special friend, Fred Allen, of Lynn; 2 daughters, Carol Rivera, of Wabash and Peggy Woods, of New Paris, OH; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Theresa Toney, of Winchester and Donald and Cindy Allen, of Fountain City; 12 grandchildren, including Brent Lady, of Indianapolis, and Faith Moore, of Wabash, both of whom she raised; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Cathryn Cates, of Sunland, CA and Frances Werner, of Fountain City; 7 brothers, Harry Werner, Jr. and his wife, Juanita, Fred Werner, Tom Werner, Bill Werner and Dale Werner, all of Richmond; James Werner, of Lynn and Russ Werner, of Centerville; sister-in-law, Greta Werner, of Greenville, OH and brother-in-law, Ron Wilt, of Lynn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister, Emma Wilt and 1 brother, Bob Werner.

A funeral ceremony was conducted by Pastor Harry Holloway at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment was in Quaker Lynn Cemetery.
