Dorothy Funk

Mrs. Dorothy P. Funk, 87, of Carlos, went peacefully to be with our Lord at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Forest Park Health Campus, in Richmond.


Born on January 11, 1922 in Richmond, In, she was the daughter of Howard and Olive Harter Wettig. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1940 and married Otto Paul Funk on September 7, 1946. They shared 61 years of farming together near Carlos before Paul's death on December 9, 2007.


Dorothy was a retired beautician. She held a Master Beauty License and was owner and operator of Catalpa Lane Beauty Shop, for 25 years. She was a faithful member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn and formerly attended Bible Study Fellowship for several years. She was a 50-year member, and past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #571. Dorothy loved to cook and bake. She took great pleasure in serving anyone who came to their home. No one ever left hungry.


Dorothy will be missed by her daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Ronnie Ice, of Muncie and Patricia and Jim McComb, of Fountain City; four grandchildren, six great-grandsons, four nephews and one niece.


Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto Paul Funk; her sister, Ruth Juanita Wettig; two brothers, Virgil Howard Wettig and Donald Wettig.


Paul Nichols and Pastor Ray Ellis will conduct a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, at the First Church of Christ, 206 West Church Street, Lynn. Interment will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, at the church.


Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Church of Christ, 206 West Church Street, Lynn, IN 47355, Spartanburg Christian Church, 6714 East 700 South, Lynn, IN 47355, or the Richmond High School Alumni Association.
