E. Joan Roth

Mrs. E. Joan Roth, 63, passed away peacefully at her home at 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.


Joan was born June 17, 1946 in Richmond, Indiana to Coy and Avah Thompson Moore, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Fountain City-Whitewater High School in 1964 and attended business college. She married James M. Roth on November 28, 1994. She enjoyed craft projects and operated the Crafty Nook in Metamora with James. She was a member and former officer of the VFW Post 1108 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post 65 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed scrapbooking for both of those organizations. Joan also enjoyed crocheting and doing genealogy work.


Joan will be missed by her husband, James M. Roth, of Fountain City; her daughter and son-in-law, Christal and Shon McConnell, of Van Wert, Ohio; her son, Joe Hoover, of Greenville, Ohio; step-daughter, Angela and Jim Anderson, of Franklin; step-son, Mike and Jackie Roth, of Richmond; 3 grandchildren, Catherine Nicholson, Cassaundra McConnell and Coy McConnell; step-grandson, Jacob Roth; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Doug Amsler, of Richmond; 2 brothers, Gene Moore, of Texas and David and Nancy Moore, of Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. She was awaiting the birth of a step-grandchild.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Freda Wilson Grimes at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, October 2, at the funeral home.
