Edna Medaris

 Edna Faye Medaris, 87, of Whitewater, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Reid Health

 Edna was born on May 17, 1937, in Garrard County, Kentucky to Wilbert & Mary Osborne Newby. She married Charles Medaris on December 8, 1956.

 Edna was a faithful member of the Whitewater Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking for hundreds of people as much as if she was simply feeding her family. She worked many years in the cafeteria of Whitewater Elementary School and later for Richmond Power & Light before retiring. She enjoyed the many fishing trips in Canada and preparing fish dinners fresh out of the lake.

 Edna will be missed by her husband of 67 years, Charlie Medaris; son, Daryl Medaris & wife, Amy, dear friend, Chris McAdams, who was like a son to Edna; grandchildren, Jodi (Jim) Hansen, Jonathan (Nichole) Medaris, Hannah (Eric) Hussey, Luke (Samantha) Medaris and Jordan (Rachel) Wesler; 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Gloria Lambert; brothers, Tony (Irma) Newby and James Newby; and numerous nieces & nephews that she dearly loved.

 Edna was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clifton Newby.

 Edna was a beacon of strength and kindness, and her generous spirit knew no bounds.

 A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Gordon Mehaffey at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3 at the Whitewater Christian Church, 7918 North State Road 227 in Whitewater. Interment will follow in Whitewater Cemetery.

 Family & friends may gather for visitation from Noon-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, at the Whitewater Christian Church.
