Eileen Slick

Mrs. Eileen Slick, 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Forest Park Health Campus in Richmond.


She was born April 29, 1917 in Gettysburg, Ohio to Van Bennett and Ethel May Miller Wilcox. She was a 1935 graduate of Palestine High School. She and her husband Chauncey farmed together, raising chickens and turkeys before retiring in 1987. They enjoyed their winters in Fort Myers, Florida. Mrs. Slick was a member of the Palestine Christian Church.


Mrs. Slick will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Diane Slick, of Lynn; 2 grandsons, Bo Slick and his wife, Leann, and Shane Slick; 1 great-granddaughter, Emma Slick; 4 sisters, Nina Lou Williams, of Greenville and Annabel Black, Imogene Moores and Martha Lee Hill, all of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.


Mrs. Slick was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chauncey W. Slick, on October 9, 2007; and 4 brothers, Myron Wilcox, Millard Wilcox, who gave his life during World War Two; James Wilcox and Carroll Wilcox.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, at the funeral home.
