   Elma C. Rigsby, 95, of Richmond, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, June 7.

   She was born on January 14, 1926 in Center Township of Wayne County, Indiana to Emil Elsworth & Mildred Fern Plessinger Filby. Elma was a 1944 graduate of Whitewater High School and attended Ball State Teachers College during World War II. Elma married JB Rigsby on May 2, 1948. They shared 36 years together and were blessed with 1 daughter and 2 sons before his death on June 12, 1984.

   Elma was a well-known pianist. She volunteered her musical talent at numerous nursing homes and hospitals until her health began to fail. She formerly worked at Belden and retired from Cox’s Supermarket. Elma was a 60+ year member of Chapter #552, Order of Eastern Star, and was a former member of the Richmond Assembly, Social Order of Beauceant. She was a member of the Middleboro United Methodist Church.

   Elma will be missed by her children, Dennis Rigsby & wife, Pam; Jim Rigsby; Karen Estep & husband, Bill; 4 grandchildren, Amanda (Shawn) Hildebrand, Jacob (Jasmine) Rigsby, Nathan (Erica) Rigsby and Ashley (Timmy) Partin; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Temple; and nieces & nephews.

   Elma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Mary Plankenhorn, Nancy Smith and brothers, Joe Filby, Dale Filby and Donald “Red” Filby.

   Family & friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 pm on Friday, June, 11, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial ceremony at the conclusion of visitation.

   A funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 12 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

   Memorial contributions are encouraged for Middleboro United Methodist Church, 4620 North State Road 227, Richmond, IN 47374.
