Evelyn Catron

Evelyn M. Catron, 96, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, at Reid Health. 

Born December 6, 1929, in Albany, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Dewey & Zelma Guffey Hurt. She married Obie E. Catron on May 7, 1955. They were blessed with 2 sons and 51 years of marriage before his death in 1996.

Evelyn worked as a seamstress at Nettle Creek Industries for 20 years and later worked as an inspector at Cinram for 15 years. She happily retired to take care of her great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. 

Evelyn will be missed by her son, David Catron; granddaughters, Tamar Catron and Megan Catron; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Woodruff (Rosalie), Allison Geise (Nolan), Malorie Woodruff, Obie Proffitt and Corey Lawrence, great-great-granddaughter, Winslie Geise; brother, James Hurt; and several nieces & nephews. 

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Obie E. Catron; son, Larry Catron, in 2009; daughter-in-law, Pamela Catron, in 2022; brothers, Donald Hurt, Fred Hurt, Wendell Hurt and Otis Hurt. 

A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Greg Guffey at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26 at the Williamsburg Cemetery.
