Gary D. Farmer

  Gary Dean “Brubber” Farmer, 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 6, at his home in the presence of his family, after a 5-month battle against pancreatic cancer.
  Gary was born November 14, 1946 in Winchester to Gordon and Cleo Moore Farmer. Gary attended Union High School in Modoc. He married the former Cindy Cline on June 23, 1966. Their union was blessed with 3 daughters.
   Gary gave 42 years of service to Belden, where he operated the boiler room for many years before retiring in 2008. He enjoyed being outdoors, doing yard work and tinkering with just about anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
   Gary will be missed by his wife, Cindy; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Jody and Rick Asher, of Lexington, Kentucky and Miki and Aaron Shewman, of Winchester; son-in-law, Darrin Daugherty, of Webster; 7 grandchildren, Dillon and Devin Daugherty, Madi, Raegan and Tyler Asher, and Chelsea and Austin Shewman; 2 sisters, Shirley Combs, of New Castle and Sharon Smith, of Richmond; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Susie Farmer, of Carlos and Danny, Sr. and Charlotte Farmer, of Greens Fork; 1 sister-in-law, Onetta Farmer; special sister representative, Julie Garrett and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dogs, Ali and Bentley, and cat, Sassy, and a special neighbor, C.A. Wills.
   Gary was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Phillip, Larry and Ron Farmer; and his daughter, Shari Sue Daugherty, who passed away on October 11, 2009.
   A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Danny Farmer at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Webster Cemetery.
   Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at the funeral home.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Reid Foundation for Hospice Care, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, Indiana 47374.
