Gene F. White

Gene F. White, 88, of Hagerstown, passed away at Reid Health on Monday, June 29, 2026. Gene was born in New Paris, Ohio on August 29, 1937, to Charles E. & Anna Oveta Brawley White. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in New Paris.

Gene formerly worked at Hill’s Roses and was a realtor with Whalen Real Estate. For over 20 years, he was a manager at K-Mart in Richmond. He later worked as a custodian at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Richmond, where he also attended worship. Gene was a published poet and collector of oil cans and diecast. He enjoyed tending his flower gardens and fishing.

Gene will be missed by his daughters, Nancy Lairson & her husband, Joe, and Kim White & husband, Todd Gross; his long-time companion, Karen Fisher & family; grandchildren, Brandi (William) Hoffenbacher, Tyler (Deanna) Lairson, Cheyanne (Mario) White, Shelby (Evan) Emrick; great-grandchildren, Vivian, Lane, Zein, Allie and Hannah; and several nieces & nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry A. White; siblings, Irene Stover, Mary Eaton, June Smith, Carl White, Robert White, Jesse White and Elwood White.

A memorial celebration will be held from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 121 South 18th Street, Richmond, Indiana.
