George Bussberg

It is with a heavy heart that the family of George Bussberg announces his passing at his residence in Indianapolis on June 16, 2025 at the age of 79 following a two-year illness.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years Betty; children Steve Bussberg (wife Jen), Stacy Bussberg, and Shannon Bussberg; grandchildren Valerie Bussberg (fiancé Dominic), Vanessa Packard (husband Trevor), Cooper Bussberg (partner Kyle), Joshua Rasche, Wheatly Wilson; siblings Wayne Bussberg, Carol Lennex (husband Bob), Terry Bussberg, Karen Dawson (husband Rick), Tammy Wagner (husband Darrell), Jerry Bussberg (wife Tiffany) and Penny McElfresh (husband Don).

George was preceded in death by his parents George and Clara Mae, his stepfather John Lenox, as well as his brother Mike Bussberg.

George was born in Rushville, IN graduating from Rushville High School in 1964. After two decades of working at Design and Manufacturing in Connersville, he and Betty decided to further their education and earned their B.A. from Indiana University East. Not stopping there, George received a full scholarship in Library Science at St. Johns University in Queens, New York. Both George and Betty received their masters degree in 1995 from St. Johns. George then worked as a senior librarian in the Brooklyn Public Library for the next 17 years, before retiring back to Indiana in 2012.

George enjoyed spending time with his family, reading history, and listening to the Cincinnati Reds on the radio.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
