Mr. Gerald H. Davis, 73, of Fountain City, passed away on Saturday, December 20.
Born on August 18, 1952, in Rushville, Indiana, he was the son of Forrest O. “Pee Wee” & Mary Ellen “Dolly” Manning Davis, both of whom preceded him in death.
Gerald was a 1970 graduate of Randolph Southern High School. He attended Fort Wayne Bible College and Ball State University. While serving in the US Army, stationed in Germany, he met Annette French, the love of his life. They were married on August 17, 1974.
Gerald enjoyed a career that spanned over 40 years in funeral service and manufacturing. With over 50 US Patents to his credit, his ideas and innovations cemented his legacy as an industry leader. Gerald retired from his role as President at Vandor in 2021.
Gerald was a humble benefactor to many who never knew where their blessing came from. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and he took great joy in attending Community of Faith Church in Richmond. He enjoyed designing and building homes, owning and driving fun cars, model railroading and music. He enjoyed cooking and organizing family meals, making lists careful to plan each detail.
Gerald will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Annette; children, Adrienne Cowen & husband, Rick, Erin Myers & husband, Michael, Justin Davis & wife, Lynnette, Bryan Davis& wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Bryce (Kayla) Cowen, Lauren (Shane) Reagan, Ashlyn (Justin) Foust, Ella Myers, Addison Davis, Noah Davis, Piper Davis and Boden Davis; great-grandchildren, Weston Porter, Keaton Cowen, Landon Cowen and one more due in February 2026; brother & sister-in-law,Keith & Julane Davis; and niece Marcie Norton & nephews Michael Davis and Matthew Davis.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 28. at Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
Gerald lived a life to be celebrated! His celebration will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Please bring your smiles and warm memories of Gerald.
