Gilbert H. Waltz

   Mr. Gilbert H. Waltz, 87, of New Haven, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
   He was born January 15, 1924 in Hagerstown to William and Edith Locke Waltz. He graduated from Richmond High School. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War Two and was a member of American Legion Post 253 in North Webster. He married Mary A. Tudor on April 27, 1945. Together they raised 3 daughters and shared 64 years of marriage before her death on October 10, 2009.
   Mr. Waltz was an operating engineer and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bradenton, Florida, where he wintered from 1992-2007.
   Mr. Waltz is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Margo and Terry Wibel, of Summitville, and Elizabeth and Kirk Salerno, of New Haven; 1 son-in-law, Mike Friermood, of Chesterfield; 7 grandchildren, Tony Friermood, Carrie (Chad) Carey, Todd Friermood, Ryan Holder, Lucas Salerno, Hannah Salerno and Rachel Salerno; 1 great-grandchild, Zane Carey; and 1 niece and 2 nephews.
   Mr. Waltz was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and 1 daughter, Linda Friermood, on December 2, 1998; 1 sister and 1 brother.
   A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery with military rites by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
   Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions may be sent to New Haven High School baseball and volleyball programs, care of the school.

So sorry to hear of the loss to your family.  I just saw this is the Warsaw paper, so wanted to let you know I am sending loving prayers your way.  The Friermood and Holder kids bring back great memories for at the Summitville School.  Hoping the Waltz family will have fond thoughts as the time passes.

Dear Waltz family,
Jon called Thurs. night to let us know of Gib''s death.  We''re so sorry but he is at peace now and with Mary.  I have some very fond memories of your Dad when he was dating your Mom.  We always had good  times with the whole family.  Love to your family.
