Greg Boyce

d. August 18, 2022

George Gregory (Greg) Boyce, 48, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Thursday, August 18, at his home in Whitestown, Indiana. He passed peacefully with his cherished wife, sister and brother-in-law at his side.

Greg was born on January 7, 1974, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Donald & Gloria (Dines) Boyce.

Greg will be missed by his wife, Olivia Engle Boyce, daughters, Lauren Boyce and Claire Boyce, and their mother Patti Boyce; his parents, Donald & Gloria Boyce; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie & Glenn Grillo, his niece Savanna Potter, and nephew Seldon Potter; his in-laws Bill & Jeanne Engle, and sister-in-law Natalie Engle; and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Greg was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents, and his beloved childhood dog Bear.

Greg had an amazing and often antagonistic sense of humor. During his school years, he coasted along with his intellect and focused on having fun and making others laugh. He grew up playing baseball on the street in front of his childhood home, and shooting hoops in the driveway with his friends. He played basketball through university, where his teammates relied upon him for his aggressive rebounding skills.

Greg graduated from Kingswood University in Sussex, New Brunswick in 1997 where he made many friends whom he stayed in contact with all of his life. They still fondly remember Greg and all the pranks they pulled and shenanigans perpetrated.

After graduation, he went to minister in Prattville, AL for the subsequent four years and carried many new friendships with him when he relocated to Richmond, IN in 2001 where he ministered until 2015. During this period of his ministry Greg grew in his faith and leadership skills.

Greg earned his Master of Divinity from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2013. He went on to work at Centerstone as a Family Support Specialist from 2015-2017, where he met his partner and now wife Olivia Engle. During these years he also served as the Religious Life Coordinator at Earlham College.

Greg served as the Executive Director of the Autism Society of Indiana for the past five years. An ASI tribute to him stated: “Greg dedicated his life to serving others through his time at ASI, and his many years in ministry. He led his staff in a way that exemplified leadership through words of encouragement, actions, and commitment to continued development. He was a visionary. Under Greg’s leadership the Autism Society of Indiana grew strategically, expanded partnerships, and increased revenue. His thoughtfulness, vision, and fortitude will be greatly missed.” Greg was proud of his work at ASI and valued the close relationships he formed with his colleagues there.

Greg was never shy about loving people. He wanted to show everyone the love of Jesus. He loved his family fiercely and worked hard to make sure Olivia, and his daughters would be cared for and supported.

Visitation for Greg will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 23, at Lifespring Church South, 501 South 7th Street in Richmond, Indiana.

Greg’s funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 24 at Lifespring Church South.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a college fund for Greg’s daughters collected by the Autism Society of Indiana at https://autismsocietyofindiana.salsalabs.org/GeneralDonationForm/index.html in memory of Greg Boyce.
