Harry L. “Hank” Jeans, 93, formerly of Fountain City, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville.
He was born in New Paris, Ohio on July 5, 1930 to Floyd Ellsworth & Irene Aldean Wehrley Jeanes, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Jeans was a 1948 graduate of Boston High School and was a US Air Force veteran.
Mr. Jeans enjoyed a career as a maintenance electrician and formerly worked at Kemper Cabinets, Crosley and Dana/Perfect Circle. After the opening of Northeastern High School, he accepted a position as Director of Maintenance and retired from there after 23 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Centerville Christian Church.
Mr. Jeans loved anything to do with sports, from playing them to coaching others to simply watching them. He was a Little League coach to his sons and played in softball leagues for many years. He was an avid golfer throughout his life and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Indianapolis Colts.
Mr. Jeans will be missed by his wife of 73 years, the former Violet Allen; sons & daughters-in-law. Jeff & Julia Jeans and H. Daniel & Laurie Jeans; daughter & son-in-law, Janie & Gene Hemmerling; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Jeanes and Lola Feaselman.
Mr. Jeans was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Eugene, Winnie, Marvin, Pete, Beverly, Patty, Kay and Judy.
Services for Mr. Jeans will be held privately.
