Helen C. Harris

   Mrs. Helen C. Harris, 90, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, December 8, at Reid Health.

   She was born in in New Garden Township on the family farm on September 18, 1932 to Howard Frederick “Dutch” and Rena Jeanette Peden Meyers. Helen was a 1950 graduate of Fountain City High School. She married Robert M. “Bob” Harris on June 24, 1952. They were blessed with two sons and 58 years of marriage before Bob’s death on August 14, 2010.

   Helen was baptized in the Fountain City Church of Christ as a child. She helped out on the family farm growing up. After her marriage, she continued as a dedicated farm wife alongside Bob.

   Helen will be missed by her sons & daughters-in-law, Larry & Tammy Harris and Rodney & Teresa Jo Harris; grandchildren: Jill (Brian) Grimes, Katie Harris, Amber (Nick) Ramsey, Lynn (Josh) LaBarge, Ashlee (Ben) Collins and Heather Kern; great-grandchildren:  Rebecca, Maggie, Emma (Austin), Braeden, Brice, Ava, Karrah, Justin, Mason, Harper, Adele, Abigail, Laura, Charlotte, Elaine, Gaige and Reed; great-great-granddaughter: Coraline; sister-in-law, Karen Meyers; nephews: Billy and Bobby Meyers, and niece, Jeannie Meyers.

   Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Anna Mae, and brother, Perry Emerson Meyers.

   Visitation for Helen will be from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South in Fountain City.

   Helen’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
