Frances “Ilene†Adams, 90, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, at her daughter’s residence.
She was born on September 7, 1924 in Randolph County, Indiana to Brant and Hattie (Thornburg) Helm. She was a graduate of Williamsburg High School. She married Marvin R. Adams on December 12, 1947. They were blessed with two daughters and 50 years of marriage before his death on August 27, 1998.
Mrs. Adams lived in Williamsburg most of her life, where she was a faithful member of the Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene. During World War II, she contributed to the war effort by working at Perfect Circle. She later worked at Belden before going to work at Hill Floral Products, from where she retired.
Camping with her family was an important part of her life. She and her husband were members and Field Directors of the Sundowners Camping Club for many years.
Cooking, tending a garden and crafts, especially crocheting were also a large part of her life but most importantly, she loved to be with her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams will be missed by her daughters & sons-in-law, Melana & Ken Lucas and Lisa & Mark Carico; grandchildren, Shayna (Mike) Marshall, Kailee (Jeremy) McKnight, Rob Lucas, Steve Lucas and Michelle Abrahams; great-grandchildren, Kaylana, Kristiana, Joanna, Justin, Alina, Kai, Imani, Jayden, Tristen, Kensley, Ryan and several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, two sisters, Hazel Huddle and Rosemary McNutt; and brother, Wilbur Helm.
The family especially appreciated the loving care from Stacy and Molly at Above & Beyond Home Care, Visiting Physicians of Indianapolis and Lifestream Services.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at the funeral home.
