James Beard

James Howard Beard, 90, of Williamsburg, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Reid Hospital.
   He was born January 8, 1924 near Carlos, Indiana to Harry McClelland “Clell” and Myra Hunnicutt Beard. He was a 1942 graduate of Huntsville High School and was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War Two. He married the former Betty Mosier on September 19, 1947 to begin a union that was blessed with a son.
   Mr. Beard worked as a machinist, giving 30 years of service to Avco before moving over to Dana, from where he retired. He played on the Avco company softball teams of the 50’s and 60’s. He joined the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department in 1948 and continued to help out in any way he could until just a few years ago.
   Mr. Beard will be missed by his wife of 67 years, Betty Beard; son, Ronald Beard; sisters, Charlotte Vanover and Esther Ankrom; brother, Chester Beard and several nieces & nephews.
   Mr. Beard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Frances Wise and Bessie Shook; and brothers Johnny Beard, Raymond Beard, Walter Beard and Harry Beard.
   A graveside service will take place at a later date in Williamsburg Cemetery.
