James F. Conway, Jr.

November 21, 1953 — April 23, 2010

James F. "Jim" Conway, Jr., 56, passed away on Friday, April 23, at Reid Hospital.


He was born November 21, 1953 in Fort Knox, Kentucky to James F., Sr. and Mary Jo Strong Conway. He was involved at Green Acres and later at Achieva Resources during his life and was currently living independently in a group home. The challenges in his life and his determination to overcome adversity were cause for people to examine how easy their own problems really are when compared to others.


Jim enjoyed working on the family farm when his abilities permitted. He remained an avid fisherman all of his life.


Jim will be missed by his mother, Mary Jo Conway, of Richmond; son, Micah Therrian, of Florida brother and sister-in-law, Michael Sr. and Katherine Conway, of Lynn; sister, Virginia Nicely, of Lexington, Kentucky; maternal grandmother, Lorene Strong, of Fountain City; nieces, Stephanie and Kimberley Keys and Jessica Schalk; nephew, Bob Conway; aunt, Shirley Murray, of Webster; uncles, John Conway and Charlie Conway, both of Fountain City; several cousins and his special friends and caregivers, Carl Bowen and Emily Jarvis.


Jim was preceded in death by his father, James F. Conway, Sr. and nephew, Michael "Mikey" Conway, Jr.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 26 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, at the funeral home.
