James W. "Jamie" Ladd, Jr. 58, of Williamsburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, at Reid Hospital.
Born September 27, 1951 in Winchester, he was the son of James W., Sr. and Lois Laymon Ladd. Jamie graduated from Northeastern High School in 1969 and married the former Geneva Baker of Williamsburg on February 7, 1970.
Jamie was formerly employed by Wayne Corp., Carpenter, and Ladd Transit. He formerly owned Paperback Paradise. Jamie enjoyed drawing and expressing himself artistically. He liked hunting, gardening, walking and doing anything that allowed him to be outdoors. He was a long-time paintball enthusiast and was captain of the award-winning River Raiders Paintball Team. Jamie was active with local youth as well, formerly serving as Commissioner and Coach in the Williamsburg Youth League. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.
Jamie will be missed by his wife, Geneva; daughter, Autumn Ladd, of Williamsburg; son, James W. "Trey" Ladd III, of Richmond; parents, Jim and Lois Ladd, of Williamsburg; 3 sisters, Sue Ladd and Amy Ladd, both of Williamsburg; and Mary and Kevin Dowler, of Boston; 3 brothers, Toby Ladd, of the Chicago area; Joe and Mary Ladd, of Webster; Tom and Michelle Ladd, of Williamsburg; 2 special grandchildren, Camilla Perry and Darius Estes.
Jamie was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandi Renee Ladd, on June 8, 1974; brother, Dennis Ladd, on September 9, 1996.
A funeral ceremony will be presided over by Bishop Michael Fegter and conducted by Jeff Baker at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 3, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3333 Backmeyer Road, Richmond. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 PM on Monday, November 2, at the church.
