Janice M. Carender, 76, of Williamsburg, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday evening, November 4.
Janice was born on May 1, 1947 in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of Lewis Gordon & Mary Evelyn (Spangler) Bryant, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1965 graduate of Richmond High School.
Janice formerly worked at Avco in Richmond before taking a job at Alcoa, from where she retired after 47 years of service. Janice was a longtime avid motorcycle rider. She loved riding her Harley-Davidson. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Janice enjoyed tending to her flowers, reading and all things sweet. For the past six years, she drove many miles transporting the Amish community members.
Janice will be remembered as a kind, generous person who would do anything for anyone.
Janice will be missed by her daughters, Kimberly Lanter and Lori Carender Blair & her husband, Robert; grandchildren, Morgan Harrington & husband, Ben, McKenzie Cates & husband, Jacob, and Jordan Dale & husband, Brandon; great-grandchildren, Madeline Harrington, Wesley Harrington and Eleanor Harrington; Step-mother, Mary Bryant; sisters, Donna Himes and Margie Casebolt & husband, Steve; brothers, Danny Bryant & wife, Kitty, Alan Bryant & wife Diana and Mark Bryant & wife, Marlene; and several nieces & nephews. Janice also leaves behind her canine companion, Harley.
Janice was preceded by her parents, husband, Gary Carender; son-in-law, Robbie Lanter, grandson, Benjamin Burrell and brother-in-law, Chester Himes.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8 at Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home. 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m., with burial to follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Help The Animals, 2101 West Main Street, Richmond, IN 47374.
