Janice McDivitt

   Janice C. McDivitt, age 93, of Fountain City, went to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday, November 10, 2022.  She was born on December 21, 1928, to John Bowers and Edith Ashworth Bowers.  On August 27, 1947, Janice married her true love, Whitey McDivitt, at New Hope Methodist Church. Together, they raised their family and last August celebrated 75 years of marriage.  

   Janice loved God and was a lifetime member of First Church of Christ.  She worked at Everton Grade School for 5 years as a cook and also spent 10 plus years working at Friends Fellowship.  The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to the staff at The Springs of Richmond for the exceptional care that Janice received during her time there.

   Left to cherish her memory are husband Whitey McDivitt; children Diane (John) Crandall, Neil Duane (Patti) McDivitt and Melanie (Randy) Calvelage; grandchildren Justin, Ryan, John, Michelle, Rachel, Matthew, Jennifer and Lucas; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren with one more on the way.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews. Janice is preceded in death by her parents John and Edith Bowers and sister Joyce Storer.

   Services for Janice will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at First Church of Christ in Lynn, Indiana. Burial will immediately follow in Willow Grove Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Doug Nolan and Paul Nichols.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m.on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home. 

   Memorial contributions may be made in Janice’s name to any of the following: Reid Hospice, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374; Friends Fellowship Endowment Fund, 2030 Chester Blvd, Richmond, IN 47374 or any charity of the donor's choosing.
