Jim Smith

James M. “Jim” Smith, 71, of Richmond, passed away on Friday morning, September 18, at home. Born March 24, 1955, in New Castle, Indiana, he was the son of Glenn W. Smith and Mildred P. Thompson Alexander. He attended Hagerstown High School and Northeastern High School.

Jim retired from Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. He worked hard to provide for his family. He was the best dad, grandpa, and friend, and would always be there for those he loved. There are no words to express how much he will be missed.

Jim enjoyed riding motorcycles, listening to good music, checking out old cars, and watching sports.

Jim will be greatly missed by his children, son Rob Smith; daughter Jamie Hay and her husband, Brian, his friend and the mother of his children, Vicky Watson; grandchildren, Kalleigh Smith, Taylor Smith, Morgan Vineyard and Jaxon Hay.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sherri Lynn Bowman, and an infant brother, Ronald W. Smith.

A public graveside service will conducted in Greens Fork South Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 24.
