August 17, 1938 – March 20, 2017
Our family is saddened to announce that Joan, cherished and much loved wife of Hendren Ray Jr., passed away peacefully at home.
They were married on June 29th, 1958 at the Webster Methodist Church and have lived happily ever after! Joan graduated from Ball State University and Wayne State University and began her career early as an elementary school teacher. She loved to sew and make crafts and was an avid gardener who volunteered her time with many. She LOVED to be involved with all of her grandchildren’s activities and was the best fan at all of their sporting events.
Joan is the kind and loving mother of Janel (Joey) Gagnier, Steven & Scott Ray and Susan (Greg) Ulicny; cherished grandmother of Victor (Sandra) Gagnier, Cody Ray, Payton & Paige Gagnier, Vanessa (Ricky) Ulicny, Chris Ray, Ryan, Elaine & Joanne Ulicny, Lexi Ray and Great Grandmother to Adalyn; Special Sister to Patty Sue Collins (Charlie); Sister in Law to Barb, Ken, Nancy and Carol (Jim) Ray and will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to the compassionate and caring PSW's and nurses for making Joan’s final months comfortable.
Visitation will be held at Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 4-7pm. Saturday Service will take place at 11am followed by the burial with her parents, Ralph and Zelma Pope Crome, in Richmond, Indiana at the Lutherania Cemetery.
In kindness, memorial donations to the Webster Methodist Church, PO Box 8, Webster, IN 47392, would be appreciated.
