Joan I. Phillips

December 21, 1925 — June 1, 2011

Joan I. Phillips, 85, passed away June 1 in Richmond, Kentucky at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.

She was born December 21, 1925 in Richmond, Indiana to Herschel and Margaret Godsey Roberts. She married James C. Phillips in 1951 and lived in Fountain City for 57 years. She was formerly a housekeeper at Golden Rule in Richmond. She was a member of the Fountain City First Baptist Church and Chapter #552, Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by niece Sara Murphy; step-son, Barry Phillips; 2 grandchildren.

One child, Charles Davis Jr. and brothers, George Roberts and Leon Roberts; sisters, Irene Roberts, Ruth Righter and Anna Belle Abney, her parents and husband preceded her in death.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12-2 p.m. on Monday, June 6, at the funeral home.
