   JoAnn May Chenoweth, 88, of Lynn, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018.

   She was born JoAnn May Ihlstrom on April 2, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Erik E. and May Katherine Parent Ihlstrom. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1948, during which time she was a member of Jack Kurkowski’s Xylophone Band. She attended Indiana University, where she majored in political science. While at IU, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, serving as chapter president her senior year before graduating in 1952.

   She and Frank Chenoweth were married on May 3, 1952. They were blessed with three children and 63 years of marriage before his death on November 25, 2015. She worked briefly for an insurance company in Indianapolis before leaving to assist her husband in the operation of the family business, Chenoweth’s Store in Lynn.

   Mrs. Chenoweth was a faithful member of Lynn Friends Church, where she was a long-time Sunday School teacher. She was a former Gray Lady volunteer at Reid Health and was a benefactor to many local and national humane animal organizations. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and family and was a tireless caregiver to her husband.

   Mrs. Chenoweth's family wishes to thank her caregivers at Friends Fellowship Community for their treatment of her while in their care, as well as her caregivers from AseraCare Hospice.

   Mrs. Chenoweth will be missed by her daughters, Catherine Stevenson and her husband Philip; and Barbara Chenoweth Allen and her husband, Richard; son, James F. Chenoweth; grandchildren, Sean Stevenson and his wife, Tierney, Sara Stevenson, Cooper Allen, Kenzi Chenoweth and Sophi Chenoweth; great-granddaughters, Arianna Stevenson and Everly Stevenson; and her faithful canine companion, Misty. 

   Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and brother, Jack Ihlstrom.

   The family will observe private services at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home in Fountain City prior to interment in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
