John D. Shepherd, Jr., 85, of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his residence.
   He was born in Livingston, Kentucky on April 7, 1930 to John D., Sr. and Cora Belle Browning Shepherd. He married the former Opal Amyx on February 21, 1947. They were blessed with four children and shared nearly 30 years of marriage before her death on November 28, 1977. He later met and married the former Kathryn Taylor on August 31, 1979 and shared nearly 37 years of marriage.
   John was a carpenter most all of his life. He formerly owned & operated Shepherd Construction. He was a faithful member of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church and a long-time member of Carpenter’s Local 912. He always enjoyed building things and hunting and fishing.
   John will be missed by his wife of 37 years, Kathryn Shepherd; daughters, Sharon Starn and her husband, Jack; Beverly Shepherd; Kathy Booker and her husband, Don; Linda Walker and her husband, Tom; Debbie Clark and her husband, Dale; sons, Darrell Shepherd and his wife, Marsha; and Bill Shepherd; sister, Marie Rupe; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
   John was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Opal Shepherd; granddaughter, Deanna Shepherd; sons John Perry and Tom Perry; sisters, Ella Stegemiller and Geneva Mummert; and brothers Milford Shepherd, Gilbert Shepherd and Dewey Shepherd, Sr.
   Pastor David Anderson will conduct a funeral ceremony at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 18 at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 US 27 North. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
   Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, July 18, at the church.
   Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Fountain City Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 5600 US 27 North, Richmond, IN 47374.
