David Shute

David W. Shute, 85, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday morning, October 26, with family at his side.

He was born on September 2, 1940, in Richmond, Indiana to Leslie M. and Pearl Coffman Shute. He was raised in Williamsburg and was a 1958 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He later attended Ball State University.

David worked in many different areas of the automotive world. He was a mechanic, a body shop worker and a former employee of Avco, Rodefeld’s and Cox’s Supermarket. He was a former member of USAC and raced stock cars for many years. He was a member of Richmond Elks #649 and enjoyed playing golf and boating.

David will be missed by his children, Steve Shute & wife, Shirley, Patty Pierce & husband, George; and nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces & nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Norma Jean Sittloh and Janice Shute; and brothers, Marion Shute and Ralph Shute, Sr.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Williamsburg Community Center, 8500 North Centerville Road, Williamsburg, IN 47393. A memorial service will conclude the visitation.
