John E. Ward, 79, of Spartanburg, passed away on Monday, October 17 at Reid Health.
Born on August 19, 1943 in Richmond, he was the son of Lawson E., Sr. & Launa Caudle Ward, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and married the former Maxine Arthur on February 11, 1962. They shared 56 years of marriage before her death on February 27, 2018.
John was a member of the Spartanburg Christian Church. He farmed most of his life and owned & operated John Ward’s Garage in Spartanburg for many years.
John will be missed by his brothers, Robert E. Ward, Lawson E. Ward, Jr. and Martin E. Ward.
A public graveside ceremony will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, in Spartanburg Cemetery.
No public visitation is planned.
