Mr. Johnnie L. Poynter, 76, of Greens Fork, passed away on Friday, May 19.
He was born in New Castle, Indiana on August 23, 1940 to Lester and Mary Stefandel Poynter. He graduated from New Castle High School and attended Ball State University. He served in the US Air Force from 1962-1966.
Johnnie worked for Dana Corporation prior to his retirement in 2003. He loved playing golf and taught the game to many people.
Johnnie will be missed by his wife, the former Shirley Moore, whom he married in 1990; son, A.J. Poynter; sisters, Starry & Bill McCall, Tawny & Art McCorkle; Gina, and Laura; brothers, Mike & Diana Poynter, and Todd Poynter; and several nieces & nephews.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ken Poynter and Kip Poynter.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
