Joseph E. “Pete†Petry, 74, of Fountain City, passed away Monday, May 6, at Reid Hospital.
He was born on May 4, 1939 in Richmond to Marvin E. and Edna Viretta Moore Petry.
Pete farmed all of his life and always stayed busy. He worked as a finish carpenter for Charles Miles Inc. in Richmond for 20 years, helping to build many homes on Richmond’s north side. He worked 11 years for Scott Door Co and had owned & operated J&J Small Engine Repair since 1989. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and working with his hands.
Pete will be missed by his wife, the former Janice Baker, whom he married on April 3, 1972; daughters & sons-in-law, Sabrina Weber-Cornwell and Rick Cornwell, of Bremerton, WA; Lisa and Butch Richardson, of Fountain City; 2 granddaughters, Diana Weber and Megan Gethers.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Nicholas Weber, who died in 1983.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, at the funeral home.
