June Austin, 89, of Fountain City, joined her beloved savior on Saturday, September 21.
She was born November 26, 1923 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio to Merle B. and Cora B. Patterson Ross. She was a 1942 graduate of Eaton High School. She married Francis Austin on October 13, 1945 and shared 58 years of marriage until his death on February 27, 2004.
June formerly worked at International Harvester and Perfect Circle. She retired from Northeastern High School in 1988 after 22 years of service preparing food in the cafeteria. June never stopped working for the Lord. She was a faithful member of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church and the Golden Years Fellowship. June was an active supporter of Alzheimer’s groups in Richmond and enjoyed reading devotions at Arbor Trace. She was recognized by Richmond Community Schools in 2008 for her 20 years of involvement in the Mentoring Program.
June will be missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Brenda Austin, of Hagerstown; Rex & Suzanne Austin, of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Amy Ryan and her husband, Patrick; Dale Austin and Darin Austin; brother & sister-in-law, Lewis & Suzanne Ross, of Trotwood, Ohio and several nieces & nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter, Patricia Ann Austin one sister, Joan Ross; and two brothers, Merle Ross, Jr. and Victor Ross.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 US 27 North, Richmond. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church.
