June E. Souther

   Mrs. June E. Souther, 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 16 at Arbor Trace in Richmond.
   She was born March 23, 1923 in Richmond to Alexander “Ike” and Belle Mills Shuminoff. She married Dwight Lewis Souther on November 27, 1940. Their home was blessed with 5 children and they shared 62 years of marriage before Mr. Souther’s death on November 19, 2002.
   Mrs. Souther was a graduate of the Reid School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse technician at Reid Hospital and was also a private care nurse for the Commons family in Richmond. She enjoyed watching television and fishing.                      
   Mrs. Souther will be missed by her daughters, Betty Jane Souther and Ruth Ann Tallant and her husband, Mark, all of Richmond; Marie Hutchinson and her husband, Rick, of Indianapolis; sons & daughters-in-law, John & Elberetta Souther, of Avilla and Robert & Linda Souther, of Fountain City; 6 grandchildren, Gevella (Phil) Wilt, Ali (Bryan) Hutchinson, Lisa (Randy) Martin, Robert Adam (Cristine) Souther, Derek Nicholson and Krista Souther; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister, Marjorie Hutzell, of Richmond; sister-in-law, Irene Shuminoff, of Richmond, a special nephews and nieces, Richard & Eleanor Edwards, Walt & Beva Riggle, Ron & Barb Harris, Mary Lou Riggle and several other nieces & nephews.
   In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Souther was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Carolyn Coulter and Mary Jane Harris; and 3 brothers, Sam Shuminoff, Mahlon Shuminoff and James Shuminoff.
   A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Max Knight at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
   Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, February 18, at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions may be sent to Fountain City Senior Center or The Alzheimer’s Association.
