Kitty Sheets

Katherine May “Kitty” Sheets, 81, of Fountain City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 15.
   She was born on March 21, 1936 in Richmond, Indiana to Charles H. and Grace Lillian Wilson Vance, both of whom preceded her in death. Kitty married John “Bud” Sheets on March 24, 1955. They were blessed with three children and 52 years of marriage before his death on July 21, 2007.
   Kitty had lived in the Fountain City since 1960. She served as the New Garden Township Trustee for eight years and also worked at Jim Fisher’s Fine Foods for 17 years. She was a faithful member of the Fountain City United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for 47 years and was in charge of Good Friday services for 15 years. She also was organist for 20 years at the Webster United Methodist Church. She formed and directed the Northeastern Community Choir and was a member of the Richmond Emmaus Community. Kitty was always willing to help others as a volunteer at Reid Health, Arbor Trace, Forest Park and Northeastern Elementary School.    
   Kitty will be missed by her children, Laurie A. Hayes, Michael D. Sheets and his wife, Rhonda; and Kevin C. Sheets; grandsons, Josh Hayes, Chris Hayes and his wife, Jaclyn; and Nathan Sheets and his wife, Rebecca; step-granddaughters, Jessica Wilmoth and her husband, Danny; and Jennifer Anderson-Wilkie; great-grandchildren, Dakota Hayes and Addyson Hayes; step-great-grandchildren, Daisy Anderson, James Brockman and Dylan Wilmoth; brother, Loren Vance and his wife, Jeanne; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
   Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Vicki Sheets; sister, Nancy Moore; great-grandson, Jonathan Leigh; and friend, Jay Banning.
   Rev. Jim Truelove will conduct a funeral ceremony at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 20, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
   Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday September 19, at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home or the Lynn Veterinary Hospital, 2111 East 900 South, Lynn, IN 47355.

So sorry for your loss, she was a blessing.  We moved from ft city when I was a pre-teen but I will always have fond memories of her and bud and playing at her house and in her yard.  I was so blessed that she kept in touch with me all these years.  I will miss her, I can see her and mom having there reunion in heaven.  Prayers going up for your family.

We are sorry to hear of the loss of Kitty.  She was so talented and did so much for her church and neighborhood.  Larry had surgery last week so we can not be with you but our prayers will be with you.  Larry & Brenda

We're so sorry for your loss.  Kitty was a good friend to us.  She was so much fun with which to work as a choir member of the Fountain City Methodist Church.  So full of energy and life.  God rest her lovely soul.  Dick and Jackie Webb

I am so sorry for your loss. Kitty was a wonderful lady. I enjoy hearing the stories of her watching me when I was little. She was a good friend to our family.
