Leatha I. Cofield

Mrs. Leatha I. Cofield, 83, of Bethel, passed away Sunday, December 27, at Reid Hospital in Richmond.


She was born July 31, 1926 in Wayne County, Indiana to Roy and Helen King Rexrode. She graduated from Whitewater High School in 1944. She married Philip D. Cofield on March 8, 1945. They shared 57 years together before his death on August 11, 2002.


Mrs. Cofield was a homemaker and was retired from Producers Marketing Association in Centerville, where she was the office manager. She attended the Whitewater Christian Church. She enjoyed tending her flower gardens and knitting. She also enjoyed being a Grandma and was a fixture at her grandchildren's school events and extracurricular activities.


Mrs. Cofield will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kim Cofield, of Fountain City; 3 grandchildren, Aaron Cofield, Ashley Cofield and Austin Cofield; and several nieces and nephews.


Mrs. Cofield was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 daughter, Deborah Cofield Hill, on August 29, 1970; and 2 sisters, Barbara Pohlenz and Dorothy Weber.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, at the funeral home.
