Linville C. “Bud” Lairson, 88, of Richmond, passed away on Friday morning, November 7, at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville. Bud was born on July 13, 1937, in Clark County, Kentucky, the son of Truman & Lillie Mae Stamper Lairson. He married the former Iris Ann Schankel nearly 66 years ago on January 8, 1960.
When Bud was younger, he helped area farmers. He was a heavy equipment operator, working for the Wayne County Highway Department from 1953 until his retirement in 2000. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed friendly conversations with people. Bud enjoyed sitting on his porch and had a knack for fixing things.
Bud will be missed by his wife, Iris; son, Joe Lairson & wife, Nancy; daughter, Audrey Lairson; grandchildren, Brandi (William) Hoffenbacher, Tyler (Deanna) Lairson, Chad Stubblefield, Brandon, Kimberly and Natalie; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Emily, Vin, Sophie, Gabriel, Annika, Xander, Mary Jane, Paige, Cheyenne, Hannah and Allie; granddaughter-in-law, Meghan Stubblefield; sister-in-law, Pauletta Stewart.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, daughter & son-in-law, Anna Marie & Tom Stubblefield; granddaughter, Jennifer; grandson, Damon; brother, Winfred Lairson; sister, Dorsie Coffey Roslansky; brother-in-law, Henry Stewart; father-in-law, Jim Thomas; mother-in-law, Mary Schankel Thomas.
Visitation for Bud will be from Noon – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 South US 27, Fountain City.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
