Lloyd McDermitt

   Lloyd E. McDermitt, 91, formerly of the Whitewater community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 3, at the home of his son in Delphi, Indiana.

   He was born on October 26, 1931 in Webster Township, Wayne County, Indiana to Layman Lloyd “Mac” & Esther Etta Tomlinson McDermitt. He was a 1951 graduate of Hollansburg High School, where he served as Class President. He married the former LaDema Martin on June 2, 1956. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage and 5 children before her death on June 15, 2022.

   Lloyd was a member of the former Whitewater United Methodist Church and the Church by the Side of the Road in Middleboro. He formerly had worked at AVCO, Union City Body Company, Marsh and Long’s Supermarkets and for Cinram. Lloyd enjoyed growing flowers and playing the electric organ.

   Lloyd will be missed by his daughters, Sherry L. Vosmeier & husband, Robert, and Diana L. McDermitt; daughter-in-law, Tracey Frame & husband, Dennis; sons, Philip W. McDermitt and Jerry A. McDermitt; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosetta Brower & husband, Bill; brother, David McDermitt & wife, Carol and several nieces & nephews. He will also be missed by his dog, Penny.

   Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Dennis R. McDermitt; sisters, Catherine Reynolds, Clara Porter, Carol Sue Bumpus and Betty Rexrode.

   Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 AM until Noon on Saturday, March 11, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.

   Services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 11, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
