Mrs. Lova Jean Stephens, 85, formerly of the Webster community passed away on Saturday, April 28, at Reid Hospital.
   She was born December 17, 1926 in Wayne County and was raised by her mother, Edna Eadler Fields and Robert E. Fields, who raised her as his own. She was a 1945 graduate of Webster High School, where she was a cheerleader. She attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser for 40 years. She was also co-owner of Tri-County Awards for 22 years. She was a 25-year member of the Dayton Chapter of the Miami Valley American Needleworkers Guild and the R.O.S.E. Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America. She taught needlework lessons for several years throughout the Midwest. Mrs. Stephens was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church. She was an avid fan of IU basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball and Indiana Pacers basketball. She enjoyed cooking and mushroom hunting.
   Mrs. Stephens will be missed by her husband, Bob Stephens, to whom she was married on February 4, 1949; her daughter & son-in-law, Nilah & Mark Mikesell, of Richmond; her son, Bud Stephens, of Fountain City; 5 grandchildren, Greg (Sandy) Carey, Tricia Starr, Jill Carey, Brad (Shannon) Stephens and Ashley (Cody) Kirkman; 7 great-grandchildren, Christian Carey, Nicole Carey, Lauren Carey, Jalen Rhodus, Jordan Rhodus, Makayla Oliver and Brandon Stephens; 1 sister & brother-in-law, Judy & Chuck Spurrier, of Richmond; 1 step-sister, Cookie Rogers, of Richmond and several nieces & nephews.
   In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Robert Fields and James Fields.
   Rev. Max Knight will conduct a funeral ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Entombment will follow in Earlham Mausoleum.
   Family & friends may gather from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1 at the funeral home.
