Mary A. Waltz

Mrs. Mary A. Waltz, 82, of New Haven, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Heritage Park in Fort Wayne.


She was born December 20, 1926 in Madison County, Kentucky to Ernest Gilbert and Ethel Todd Tudor. She graduated Williamsburg High School in 1944. She married Gilbert H. Waltz 64 years ago on April 27, 1945. Together they raised 3 daughters.


Mrs. Waltz was a homemaker and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bradenton, Florida, where she wintered from 1992-2007. She was a Charter Member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority chapter in North Webster, Indiana, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of North Webster American Legion Post 253.


Mrs. Waltz is survived by her husband, Gilbert, of New Haven; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Margo and Terry Wibel, of Summitville, and Elizabeth and Kirk Salerno, of New Haven; 1 son-in-law, Mike Friermood, of Chesterfield; 7 grandchildren, Tony Friermood, Carrie (Chad) Carey, Todd Friermood, Ryan Holder, Lucas Salerno, Hannah Salerno and Rachel Salerno; 1 great-grandchild, Zane Carey; and 1 niece and 2 nephews.


Mrs. Waltz was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Linda Friermood, on December 2, 1998; and her twin sister, Margaret E. Starr, on February 12, 2009.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, at the funeral home.
