Michael D. Andrews, 77, of Lynn, passed away on Saturday, February 21, at Hospice House in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born on July 5, 1948, in Randolph County, Indiana, the son of Glen E. & Virginia Bales Andrews. He was a graduate of Union High School.
Michael took pride in his work ethic. He worked for Carlos Grain Elevator in Randolph County in the late 1960s before being drafted into the US Army. He served in the 199th Infantry Brigade in Vietnam, where he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge. He returned home to work at the elevator before taking a job at Spartan Casket in Lynn, where he worked until its closure. He was always busy junking and at age 70, he began working in plumbing in Dayton, Ohio. In his younger days, he enjoyed horseback riding. He also collected Coca-Cola memorabilia and enjoyed tinkering on cars.
Michael will be missed by his companion of 21 years, Irma Blackburn; children, daughter Kristie Lewis & husband, Josh, and their children, Nicole (Damon) Kissinger, Ashley Pelston (Tristen) and Kira Lewis; daughter Freta-Mickie Andrews and her children, Tessla (Brian) Stovall and Joaquina Domingo; son Michael Andrews and his children, Caleb, Trevir, Tristin, Tyler, Tianna and Taylor; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother, James Andrews, and several nieces & nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Linda K. Isenbarger and Sharon Sue “Susie” Farmer.
Visitation for Michael will be from Noon - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, at the Union Chapel Methodist Church, 3909 West 950 South near Carlos in Randolph County.
A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment in the church cemetery.
